Friday the 5^th and Saturday the 6^th of April 2024, the travelling festival Moving Futures Festival will be in De Nieuwe Vorst, Tilburg. Moving Futures is the festival where you can experience dance by the newest generation of makers in all its manifestations. The festival showcases innovative dance in a generously varied programme with performances, installations, workshops and (after)talks.

Jefta Tanate - Domeless

How do you find your home when the ground under your feet disappears?

The need to feel connected, recognized and secure is in every human being. But what if, due to personal circumstances, you lose your home? When the place you identify with no longer exists? In Domeless, two dancers delve into this search for a new home. They build walls, break down parts and eventually try to create a safe haven again. But what does that actually take? How do they build something when they have limited resources?

Domeless challenges you to think about the essence of a home and its connection to yourself and the world around you. Walls can provide protection, but they can also create distance. How do you stay in touch with yourself and your surroundings when you are cut off from society? And if you are both on opposite sides of the wall, who actually takes care of whom?

Domeless is a performance about the impact of loss and finding your new place in the world.
An ode to those who make us feel at home.

Bio Jefta Tanate
Jefta Tanate graduated from ArtEZ's dance school and entered the Dutch dance world through his internship with Scapino Ballet. He worked with Arch8, Johannes Wieland, Panama Pictures and RITUAL. In 2017, Jefta was nominated for a Swan for "most impressive dance performance" with his role in Jasper van Luijk's The Definition of Now. In 2022, he was nominated again, this time for a Young Swan for his performance in Birds by Dalton Jansen and Anne Maike Mertens, by DOX and Theater Rotterdam. In his dance career, Jefta has used multiple techniques and methods, such as contact improvisation, Martial Arts and circus, in which he further developed at Maas Theater & Dance, Panama Pictures and Arch8. Since 2022, he has been a creator at Theater a/d Rijn, where he will make two productions.

Justin de Jager - Brothers

The performance Brothers is a duet by Justin de Jager and Sem Deliveyne. This play focuses on the theme of 'brotherhood'. Inspired by their mutual friendship and experience as ‘younger brothers of..’ Justin and Sem take you on a journey of support, competition, intimacy and cooperation. Brothers is epitomised by the movement concept threading derived from breakdance. They clench limbs and create openings through which they pass together, literally and figuratively.

Bio Justin de Jager
Justin de Jager started out as a breakdancer, but his interest in other forms of movement introduced him to contemporary dance. He specializes in the concept of threading, which originated from breakdance. In threading, you create an opening by connecting several body parts and then passing through it with another body part.

Theatrically, Justin is a pioneer who is pushing the artistic boundaries of threading. In 2019, he won the audience award of Rotterdam International Duet Choreography Competition (RIDCC), first prize at AmsterDans in the category 'emerging dance duets' and hit the semi-finals of Hollands Got Talent. In 2020, he received the Leo Spreksel Award. He also worked extensively with Canadian choreographer Emma Portner, culminating in the movement film Sit Bones.
