ICK (International Choreographic Arts Centre) is an international contemporary dance company based in Amsterdam. For 25 years, we have been giving shape to our mission through dance performances, research and education: inspiring people through the expressive power of the intuitive, dancing body.

The financial support of Friends earlier helped us to furnish our new building, Westbeat, just across the Amsterdam-West ring road, which houses ICK's new dance studios within Space For Dance Art. Also during the pandemic, the contributions of friends made it possible to make a new world premiere with the ensemble despite all the limitations, and the young makers could still continue to make work within the Artist Space, which would have been impossible without the support of ICK.

The support and trust of our Friends gives us the opportunity to continue to develop through research and to support young makers by providing them with a stage and an (inter)national network.

As a platform for contemporary dance, ICK has entered into a close collaboration with Meervaart Theater in Amsterdam Nieuw-West. This theatre presents itself as a new stage for dance and physical theatre. ICK is a resident company and will therefore be the performer of the two halls. As a result, ICK has a physical and a public place, while the theatre builds a strong profile as a new dance stage.

Junior Board

The Junior Board will be intensively involved in ICK Dans Amsterdam's business operations and ambitions for a year. From the Supervisory Board and the Board of Directors, real life cases are made. Subjects and themes for which ICK has issues and for which objectives have been formulated. It is up to the Junior Board to advise ICK and then to help implement this successfully.

ICK Dans Amsterdam is financially supported by the City of Amsterdam, the Performing Arts Fund and the AMMODO Foundation.

Collaboration

International collaboration is inherent in ICK's way of working: the dance platform comes to life through all the interactions and projects, and through the space there is for individuality, flexibility and openness. ICK is a place where fellow choreographers, researchers, dancers, audience and the many partners work, breathe and move together. All cooperation that the platform engages in has grown organically through meetings and dialogue between those involved. Also see our network.
