At the special request of choreographers Emio Greco and Pieter C. Scholten, South African choreographer Robyn Orlin casts a critical eye on the worldwide Christmas hysteria together with the dancers from ICK. Father Christmass in traditional red, sparkling X-mas stars and lots of useless season's gifts provoke a witty and political installation performance.
Pieter C. Scholten: "We met Robyn Orlin in South Africa ten years ago and have kept in touch since. Robyn's way of working is political, idiosyncratic and refreshingly inspiring to us. Hence our request to her to create new work for the dancers of ICK. Robyn has the ability to hollow out and undermine clichés. Through her over-the-top approach and showing of extremes, she casts a surprising eye on topics like Africa, xenophobia and, this time around, the Christmas hysteria."
