Maria trained at Ginasiano Escola de Dança where she had the opportunity to complete a number of international courses with different dance companies. She completed her pre-graduation in 2015 with the National Dance Conservatory of Lisbon, Portugal. In 2016, Maria graduated from Ecole Supérieure de Danse de Cannes Rosella Hightower, Mougins France. Upon graduation she began working as a professional dancer with BNM. In 2019 Maria started a Master’s in Scenic Arts at NOVA University, Portugal. During this time she worked as a freelancer with Emio Greco and Pieter C. Scholten. In 2020 Maria started to work with ICK.
She has recently been nominated for the Swan award for her performance in Sweet Like a Chocolate. Maria’s favourite type of music is rock, alternative, electronic and techno. If she were not a dancer, Maria would like to do something related to art or the social sciences.
“We should be constantly prepared for a "shift" and that means being cautious, creative, alert, smart, quick, adaptable... And that's essential for life. That's the only way I see to keep living with positivity. If we don't adapt... we're just living in the past…or in a present we're not part of.”
