Muhanad Rasheed

Muhanad Rasheed (Iraq, 1985) is a choreographer, painter, musician, film edito, director and the founder of the company Iraqis Bodies. Born into an artistic family in Baghdad, he studied at a young age at the Institute of Fine Arts there. As a dancer and choreographer Muhanad is self-taught; his practice is influenced by his own research as well as experimentation with Japanese Butoh and contemporary dance.

Muhanad Rasheed was part of Dansmakers Amsterdam in 2009 and a visiting artist at ICK from 2012 till 2015. In the meantime, his dance piece Mourning was commissioned by The Internationaal Danstheater Netherlands and received the Swan Award for Best Dance Production in Holland in 2010.
