Karel Tuytschaever

Karel Tuytschaever (BE, 1985) was trained as an actor at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp. He plays, teaches and animates the platform for his own work BARRY. Starting from a passion for the body, BARRY shows work that leans between the performative and the museum, with attention to sound and image. In addition to (dance) performances, the hybrid oeuvre also includes installations, theatre texts, publications and films. ICK came into contact with Karel through an exchange of letters with dramaturge Jesse Vanhoeck about the social body on ICK's online magazine: Body in Revolt. In 2019 he was part of the residency programme New Adventures and ICK supported him in the creation of his performance STRANGER.
