Florentina Holzinger
2015 - 2017
Austrian-Dutch theatre maker Florentina Holzinger makes raw and theatrical performances in which she flirts with camp and kitsch. Encounters and events in her private life play an important role in the creation of her performances. In recent years she has made an impression with her explosive and strongly physical performances. Through her radical physicality, she provides strong criticism of Western consumer society.
Florentina studied architecture in Vienna, Austria. She studied dance and performance in Vienna and worked in Ghent (Belgium) at youth theatre De Kopergietery before moving to Amsterdam to study choreography at the School for New Dance Development (SNDO) of the Amsterdam School of the Arts. She was trained in composition, dance and choreography and performed in works by artists in residence Deborah Hay and Benoît Lachambre. From 2015 to 2017 Holzinger was artist in residence at ICK and created a.o. Recovery and Attitude No 1 feat. balanxinebaby.
