Arno Schuitemaker’s work is fresh, profound and shows a curiosity to workwith new forms and possibilities. He creates his performances through astrong physical and sensorial approach to existential subjects. In each work he shapes a unique relationship between performers and the audience.

His work is highly appreciated for its visceral and mesmerizing quality. His creations, including acclaimed performances such as The Fifteen | DUET, I is an Other, WHILE WE STRIVE and Together_till the end, have been presented in The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, Canada, Switzerland, Poland, Luxembourg, Russia, Hong Kong, Cyprus, China, and the UK. Arno has been artist-in-residence with ICK between 2015 and 2017.

Uplifting, vibrant beats and rotating upper bodies. The two performers loop and transform their movements unrelentingly. Sharing a groove, they are perseverant and stay close to each other. While pulsating lights wrap around their bodies, they create a physical vortex charged with sensual energy. Searing and evocative, its submerging power lets the experience of the two performers and the imagination of the audience go in sync.

I will wait for you

I will wait for you is the most personal work of Arno Schuitemaker so far. He is fascinated by the elusive nature of love. I will wait for you plays with the visible and the invisible, light and darkness. Three performers blend into their movements. Any logical sense of time evaporates. I will wait for you is a magnetic experience that you will feel.

While we strive

Three performers seduce the audience to go along on a trip for the senses. Hypnotizing in its intensity and magical in its simplicity, they give new life to the relationship between sound and movement: seeing becomes hearing and hearing becomes seeing.

The performers exude a tremendous amount of energy, as they circle their arms, undulate and tremble with their bodies, cling intimately to each other and take the rhythm to its limit. Setting the senses in motion, WHILE WE STRIVE creates a physical and acoustic experience that arouses, affects and resonates.
